Long piers are constructed along the fast flowing Mekon at this particular point where the rapids are fiercely powerful.
Prior to the preparations locals are already taking advantage of the structure, hitting the water fully clothed and enjoying food and drink either side of the waterway as the wooden structure is completed, ready for the full onrush of locals out of the city come the much anticipated public holiday.
